Tips for Face & Body Care
If you want to improve your complexion then you need to consider face care products. If you don't like your complexion then you may be surprised to know that many face care tips are actually quite simple. You don't need a good dermatologist or good genes in order to have good skin. Rather you simply need a little common sense and some basic understanding of body care in order to see results.
Sunscreen
If you don't have the ability to do any type of beauty body care you should at least use sunscreen. It is important to use a sunscreen that has a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15 or more on a daily basis. For those who are swimming or exercising it is a good idea to reapply sunscreen every two hours. Even if a product is labeled as water resistant, they will lose their effectiveness after 80 minutes. Those who are of African-American descent may think they don't need sunscreen, but sun protection is important for people of all ethnic groups. However, fair-skinned Caucasians show signs of visible sun damage sooner.
Diet
Any skin problem is made worse by a poor diet. If you have been eating a lot of cookies and chips then you can't expect to have a naturally smooth complexion. When you start making changes to your diet you will start to notice skin changed within just a few weeks. Science has proven that foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin A and Vitamin E will promote healthy skin. Any food that benefits your body will help improve your complexion.
Skin Care Routine
Many people are easily overwhelmed by the number of body care products on the market. However, you don't need to spend a lot of money on products for body care. In fact, many of the more expensive body care products on the market contain harsh, abrasive chemicals that will do more harm to your skin than good. The basic skin care routine should include a face wash, a toner and face moisturizer. Many individuals think they should use an exfoliating face care product, but it is just as effective to use a soft washcloth. If you are worried about wrinkles then you need to use a good face moisturizer and regular sunscreen in order to preserve the youthful appearance of your skin.
Determine Your Skin Type
Contrary to advertisements, not all body care products are the same. The face wash your close friend uses may not be the best product for your skin. While someone may recommend a face moisturizer, it may cause you to breakout. Rather you need to make sure you choose a specific body care product that is designed specifically for your skin type. There are four basic skin types to consider oily, dry, combination and normal. For those with oily skin you will only be making the problem worse by using a product designed for those with dry skin. If you don't know what type of skin you have you should stop by the cosmetics counter to get a free consultation and product recommendations based on your unique individual needs. Basically, a normal skin type is characterized by a clear appearance, even color, not tight, no oily feeling, soft and supple and has a high degree of elasticity. Dry skin is characterized by a tight or irritated feeling, can be flaky and may show fine lines around the eyes. Sensitive skin is easily irritated and may become red or blotchy. Lastly, oily skin will look greasy or shiny and is prone to breakouts. Oily skin is typically found in adolescents and young adults.
Common Conditions
For those with eczema the problem is made worse by topical irritants or genetics. Often individuals with eczema have a dry, itchy rash that can vary in severity and treatment methods. For those with eczema you should avoid harsh soaps that will dry and irritate your already inflamed skin. You can also consider finding a good body care lotion.
Many teens and young adults suffer from acne. For this skin condition you need to use a regular face wash that contain salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide in order to get rid of the bacteria that causes acne. There are also a number of body care products you can buy that are specifically designed to treat acne.
Lastly, many consider aging to be a skin related problem. While this isn't really a skin problem, sun exposure can accelerate the aging process and the skins inability to retain water can increase the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You can slow the aging process on your skin by taking the time to follow a proper face skin care routine in order to keep your skin looking as young as possible.
