Mainbocher



Main Rousseau Bocher was an American born individual who originally pursued a career as a sketch artist, illustrator and fashion correspondent before he started a salon in Paris and modified his name to Mainbocher. His fashion designs featured no frills and were a demure and non-aggressive style that used luxurious fabrics, intricate tailoring and elegance. Mainbocher became one of the top fashion designers when he was commissioned to design the uniforms for the women's U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, the Girl Scouts of the United States and the American Red Cross.




Elsa Schiaparelli



Elsa Schiaparelli first started her career in 1928 when her sweater designs attracted Mainbocher. One of her sweaters was featured in Vogue and served as the main foundation for launching Schiaparelli into the ranks of the best fashion designers. Some of her fabric designs were created by Salvador Dali and featured unusual hats, accessories and zippers as a form of decorative items. Anne Klein

Ralph Lauren has received many awards, including the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Vera Wang



Vera Wang has a long history of working with the best fashion designers. First she worked with Vogue and then with Ralph Lauren as a design director before she started her own Vera Wang Bridal House Ltd. in 1990. Vera Wang is among the fashion designers that focus on a modern and stylish approach, which balances simplicity and sophistication. A good example of this is the work by Coco Chanel. The collections of Vera Wang include bride and bridesmaid attire, eveningwear, lingerie and couture gowns. This is helping her to quickly become one of the best fashion designers today.

Calvin Klein



Calvin Klein first entered the world of top fashion designers in 1968 with a collection of women's coats and sportswear. In the 1970s, he expanded his collection to include a number of ready-to-wear outfits and the jeans revolution. Then in the 1980s, Klein started a new line of men's underwear with a unique marketing concept. Perry Ellis



Lastly, Perry Ellis first started out as a fashion merchandiser for Miller and Rhodes department store and then moved on to become the design director and sportswear designer for many other clothing companies. At this time Perry Ellis moved into the ranks of fashion designers by founding the Portfolio line and Perry Ellis Sportswear Inc. Ellis is considered an innovative designer that has won many awards and continues his legacy with a number of brands and labels.
